On Thursday, August 21, 2003, at 2:45pm, my wife of 34 years, Rebecca, died in my arms in an emergency room.

The last words we spoke were in perfect synchronization: "I love you with all my heart."

Willie Hall : STAX Alumni

STAX drummer, Willie Hall, started at STAX in 1968, with the Bar-Kays.  In 1969, when I arrived at STAX, we immediately became good friends.

I was invited to join the Bar-Kays, but declined.

Al Jackson, Jr, of Booker T. and the MGs, was a serious, lifelong influence on Willie.  In fact, so much so, that most of the time, you couldn't attempt to tell the difference between them.  Unless you saw the session, you might never know for sure.

I was fortunate enough to work with both of these superb drummers at STAX.  It just doesn't get any better - no-way, no-where, no-how.

Willie has played with some phenomenal artists, including:

The Bar-Kays

Booker T. and the MGs (1975 "Universal Language" album and live performances)

Isaac Hayes

The Blues Brothers (both Blues Bros. movies and live tours)

Ray Charles

Albert King

Little Milton

Al Green

K.C. and the Sunshine Band

Rance Allen Group

Shirley Brown

Jerry Butler

Billy Eckstine

Inez and Charlie Foxx

Levon Helm

Luther Ingram

Manhatten Transfer .... and this is just the beginning.

Future plans include Willie's personal website which should be coming soon.
